SINCE 1981, FROM INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY TO GENERAL PRACTICE

Over the last four decades, ZACARIAS & FERNÁNDEZ has been actively committed to consolidating and enhancing Intellectual Property within the Republic of Paraguay. We are confident that a political, economic, and social system, in which endless sources of new ideas and inventions drive progress and wealth, rests on a legal framework of unrestricted respect for Intellectual Property rights.

Our firm has been actively involved in assisting and consulting various public offices of the Paraguayan Government in developing new policies and drafting legislation in conformity with the guidelines established by the TRIPS agreement and other relevant international law organizations.

Similarly, in December 1996, together with other distinguished Paraguayan practitioners, we established the National Group of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI), which regularly joins forces with other organizations to protect and promote IP matters on a number of fronts, such as ASIPI, ASPI, ABA, ABPI, AAAPI, AIPLA, ECTA, IABA, IPO, INTA, ITMA, LES, APRAM, GRUR, PTMG, MARQUES and IACC.

Our footprint extends to academia, with several of our firm’s attorneys serving as professors of Intellectual Property Rights in prestigious Law Schools in our country.

Since the millennium, we have also managed to successfully expand the expertise of our firm into general practice, particularly in corporate and litigation matters. This expansion has been driven by our desire to holistically meet all the legal needs of our clients, who have always praised our full commitment and most importantly our reliability.

Since our foundation in 1981, our core goal still remains clear: to be a competitive and efficient legal team, aware of our clients’ needs.
